Hot Incremental Forming of Biocomposites Developed from Linen Fibres and a Thermoplastic Matrix

The use of biodegradable materials has a growing field application due to environmental concerns, however, scientific research on incremental forming using biomaterials is scarce. Thus, this study focuses the single point (SPIF) process applied composite sheet that combines thermoplastic matrix (Solanyl) reinforced with natural fibres (flax). influence parameters final geometry determined, evaluating effect following factors: step depth, wall angle and temperature reached during process. Additionally, heated aqueous medium incorporated which facilitates formability sheets. This method especially useful for have poor at room temperature. benefits controlled heat include reduction formation forces plate, improved accuracy elastic recovery, manipulation samples remarkably close glass transition temperatures. Through experimental variables analysed, maximum shaping depth 310 mm obtained. These results confirm used bioplastic possible positive outcomes forming.
